JUNKLE x Spherity: Digital Product Passport meets circular design
Bringing together a circular design brand and a technology that can make the story of every product traceable.
This idea led to the project developed by TALIA together with JUNKLE and Spherity, dedicated to applying Digital Product Passports to the world of fashion and craftsmanship.
A project in which TALIA had a central role in the design of the initiative and in the connection between the two companies, building the bridge between Spherity’s technological know-how and JUNKLE’s circular production model.
The challenge
JUNKLE makes products from recovered materials destined for a new life.
Sails, fabrics and other materials are transformed through design and craftsmanship.
The value of the product, however, is not only in the final result. It is above all in the story of the material, its origin and the process that transformed it.
The challenge was to make this story accessible, verifiable and directly linked to each single product.
TALIA’s idea
The project comes from the meeting of two different skill sets.
On one side JUNKLE, with its approach to circular design.
On the other Spherity, with its own technology for digital identity and Digital Product Passports.
TALIA worked on the connection between the two partners, conceiving and designing the project so that the technology could be applied to a real case and become part of the product experience.
Not a simple introduction between two companies, but the building of a shared project across design, technology and sustainability.
A digital passport for every product
With Spherity’s technology, JUNKLE products can be linked to a Digital Product Passport, accessible via QR code.
The passport makes it possible to collect and make available information about the product, the materials used, their origin and the transformation process.
In this way an object tells not only what it is today, but also where it comes from and how it was made.
From traceability to storytelling
One of the most interesting aspects of the project was turning a complex technology into a tool that is simple to use and understand.
The Digital Product Passport thus also becomes a storytelling tool.
By scanning the product, the customer can step into its story and better understand the value of the materials, the production process and the brand’s circular philosophy.
Technology and communication thus become parts of the same experience.
The project at Sicily Fashion Week
The work was also presented during Sicily Fashion Week 2025, in the panel dedicated to Fashion & Circularity and Digital Product Passport.
A chance to show in practice how a physical product can be linked to its digital identity, and how a technology designed with the new European requirements in mind can become a real tool for businesses.
TALIA’s role
In the project, TALIA handled:
- ideation and project design
- identifying the application opportunity
- connecting JUNKLE and Spherity
- coordination between the brand and the technology partner
- defining the experience linked to the Digital Product Passport
- support in applying the project to the products
- building the story and the communication
- presenting and promoting the initiative.
Our role was therefore to turn two different skill sets into a single concrete project.
Technology, product and relationships
This project is a good example of how we think about innovation.
Not necessarily creating everything in-house, but knowing how to recognise skills, technologies and companies that can create value together and build the right connection between them.
JUNKLE had a story to make even more visible.
Spherity had the technology to make it traceable.
TALIA designed the meeting point.
