Palermo Ladies Open 2026: tennis meets the city
Palermo Ladies Open 2026: a week of tennis, events and new experiences comes to a close
The 37th edition of the Palermo Ladies Open, the WTA 125 tournament that from 18 to 26 July brought top international women's tennis back to the courts of the Country Time Club in Palermo, closes with a more than positive result.
Nine days in which tennis stayed at the centre, but around the court a broader experience grew, made of events, meetings, wine, music, training, hospitality and territory.
A new direction also developed through the joint work of AGAIN, FLOW and TALIA, who handled the storytelling and communication of the 2026 edition and the building of a programme able to bring the Country to life beyond the matches.
The official results of the tournament confirmed the growth and international prestige of the event, which also culminated in the world meeting of WTA 125 tournament directors, hosted in Palermo for the first time.
A successful week, on and off the court
The aim of this edition was clear: to respect a history 37 years long and, at the same time, to widen the Palermo Ladies Open experience.
All week the Country Time Club became a place to enjoy even before and after the matches.
The side events and initiatives recorded a total of over 200 attendances, creating new occasions for the public, companies, institutions, professionals and tournament partners to meet.
The result was a programme in which tennis and lifestyle began to coexist even more naturally.
Participation also involved the city institutions, with the presence of the Mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla, together with representatives of the sporting and institutional world, strengthening the link between the tournament and the city.
The relationship with Palermo had already been underlined on the eve of the event: the City included the Palermo Ladies Open among its reference tourism and sports events, while the Country Time Club started, in 2026 itself, an important project to expand its sports area.
WineSicily x Palermo Ladies Open
Among the most important novelties of the week was WineSicily x Palermo Ladies Open, the project that brought some of the excellences of the Sicilian wine world into the tournament.
On 22 and 23 July the Country also became a space dedicated to the meeting of sport, wine, territory and business, offering the public and guests an experience different from the traditional sports programme.
The initiative also involved BCC G. Toniolo e San Michele di San Cataldo, the Catarratto Autentico Regional Association, the Monreale DOC Consortium and Le Donne del Vino, creating a moment of discussion on the future and the promotion of the Sicilian wine sector.
A cross-over that represents well the direction taken by the tournament: using an international sporting event also as a platform to tell the story of Sicily's excellences.
Aperol x Palco, a new space in the village
Throughout the week, the Aperol x Palco space also came to life, created together with Palco Unconventional Cocktail Bar.
Aperol was a partner of the project, helping to build a space dedicated to conviviality, music and entertainment inside the tournament village.
From 18 to 25 July the space accompanied the days at the Country, and the final too was preceded by a special event for spectators.
An element able to give a different face to the time spent at the Country: no longer just arriving, watching the match and leaving, but stopping, meeting and living the tournament.
The story told by AGAIN, FLOW and TALIA
Alongside the events, AGAIN, FLOW and TALIA worked on the new direction of communication for the 2026 edition.
The storytelling followed the tournament in real time, moving between court, players, backstage, public, partners, hospitality and side events.
The aim was to show everything that happens during a week of international tennis, going beyond the result of a single match.
Live communication accompanied the tournament every day, giving space to the protagonists but also to the people, companies and experiences that animated the Country.
A strategy that sought to open the Palermo Ladies Open further to the city and to different audiences, while keeping the history and prestige of the tournament recognisable.
Palermo, capital of the WTA 125 circuit
One of the most important moments of the edition was the world meeting of WTA 125 tournament directors.
For the first time about 50 international delegates gathered at the Country Time Club to discuss the future of the circuit.
Those attending the meeting included WTA vice president Melissa Pine, Paolo Lorenzi and Sergio Palmieri, among others, confirming the weight the Palermo event has gained on the international scene.
An event that, for one day, made Palermo the world centre of the WTA 125 circuit.
Francesca Jones, queen of Palermo again
Naturally, it was tennis that closed the week.
Francesca Jones won the Palermo Ladies Open for the second year in a row, beating Fiona Ferro in the final 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 after two hours and 43 minutes of play.
The British player thus became the fifth player in the tournament's history to win two editions in a row.
A hard-fought final that was the perfect end to a week lived with great intensity on and off the court.
A tournament that keeps evolving
The 37th edition of the Palermo Ladies Open ends leaving something more than the sporting result.
Over 200 attendances at the week's events, WineSicily, Aperol x Palco, meetings, training, institutions, partners and a programme able to accompany the tennis every day showed in practice how the tournament can keep evolving.
For AGAIN, FLOW and TALIA it was an intense week, lived in real time, working on communication and on building a story able to hold together a history almost forty years long and a new idea of experience.
Tennis remains the heart of the Palermo Ladies Open.
But around the court, in 2026, much more happened.
